During this pandemic, businesses have had to adapt to new purchasing trends. While some business has come up short, fortunately there is a push to support small, local businesses. So how can you best promote your small business during this challenging time for our economy?
Utilize EDDM Services
Mail sticks around in households across America. The average lifespan of a direct mail piece is 17 days. Consider mailing a postcard, brochure, or menu to households in your area. You don't even need a list for your mailing!
Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM®) services are provided by the U.S. Postal Service for businesses to advertise in their local community. EDDM can send announcements, menus, flyers, coupons—pretty much any promotional material that fits the size requirements. The USPS has an online tool to help you map specific ZIP codes (or even neighborhoods) and you can even filter by age, income, or household size that is on record from the U.S. Census.
Most businesses even qualify for postage discounts by using the EDDM services. When working with Master Print, you can pay as little as $0.164 per mail piece—a giant savings considering First Class mail is $0.55 per piece!
Plan Your Project
Make sure you plan your project with a sales consultant or account manager before designing. Behind the scenes at each post office, there are machines that do the majority of the sorting work. Because they have limitations, restrictions are placed on certain classes of mail to make sure they are “machinable.” Important physical aspects to consider are the thickness of the piece, the length, the height, and the relationship of length to height (called the aspect ratio). Making smart decisions up front will allow you to adjust your design to fit your budget constraints.
Don't Forget Signage
Let your customers know that you are still open with attention-grabbing and professionally printed outdoor signs. We can print a variety of materials, from vinyl to laminated foam board and everything in between. We have standard sizes of political-style signs that include the metal signposts to insert into the ground.
We can also print flags and banners for you to fly outside your business. These can be self-supported (on a stand) or the kind you can tie to a fence or other post. Here’s an example of a popular style we carry.
Use Your Sales Consultant's Knowledge
Your sales consultant is an expert resource available to you, so make sure you get the most information you can while planning. They can provide more options for you to consider, give you information about pricing for different options, and help manage the expectations of others who might be pressuring you for a different, and more expensive, direction.
